Shelter Respite Child Care Program
In partnership with Ontario Works, the Shelter Respite Child Care Program of STCC offers mothers residing in the shelter, temporary child care for their child or children.
This program is designed to support mothers who may need to attend appointments, meet with shelter staff or for respite care. The program offers on site child care for children up to the age of 12 years old , in a safe, caring and stimulating environment.
Caregivers go through an comprehensive screening and training program. Only responsible, mature and capable persons over 18 years of age will be considered for approval.
Caregivers are required to have child care experience and to meet all AFCS requirements which include:
- A Vulnerable Sector Check
- Maintain a valid Standard First Aid/CPR certification
- Review all agency policies annually
- Submit all related immunization records
Caregivers are also offered ongoing support and training by our well trained staff.
