Riverside Park Nursery School

Who We Are

Early in 2020 Andrew Fleck Children’s Services (AFCS) welcomed Riverside Park Nursery School (RPNS) as one of our group sites. Located in Riverside United Church, 3191 Riverside Drive, this program has been an important service to the community providing quality early learning and care since 1970.

RPNS was established in 1970, by a group of concerned parents who recognized the need for a preschool program in the area. Originally run by the Riverside Inter-Church Social Action Council as a non-profit organization, the school was incorporated in 1977 and has since been run by a volunteer Board of Directors. Its continued success results from the dedication of Board members and the support of parents working with the teaching staff. The school has been integrated since 1987.

What We Do

RPNS offers a safe, educational and fun, integrated-learning environment. Children have fun and socialize with others while developing essential skills that will prepare them for kindergarten and grade-school.

We offer preschool and nursery school classes for children aged 18 months to four years. The school operates morning programs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 pm. Monday through Friday. Before and after care is available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. for an additional fee.

Children are enrolled in programs at the school in an age-appropriate fashion. In consultation with parents/guardians and teachers, movement between programs and/or classes may occur based on the developmental levels of children.

Junior Preschool… 18 months to 2 ½ years
Senior Preschool…  2 ½ years to 4+ years

Our Team

RPNS is proud of their diverse and highly qualified Early Childhood Educators. Our teaching staff all have Early Childhood Education qualifications, are registered with the College of ECE, and hold valid First Aid and CPR.

Their commitment to the profession of Early Childhood Education is demonstrated daily through the enthusiasm and attentive care that they pay to each child and the class as a whole. Parents are provided an annual opportunity to attend a parent/teacher interview in which the child’s progress is discussed.
